Merel Noorlander is based in Metropolitan Detroit, MI, currently completing their MFA 4D Design at Cranbrook Academy of Art, electing at Architecture Department.
Noorlander is an artist who designes video collages, performances and kinetic installations in which they create portable and movable objects with a sophisticated mechanism. Exploring the possibilities of pop-up design with different materials and light, driven by motors or the body. Subjects as sexuality, gender politics, animality and rituals are her research and philosophical base.
Together with co-initiator Arthur Kneepkens, they develop social research trajects in Amsterdam and beyond as SAM Sixhaven, HoeGaatHetEchtMetJe and De Nieuwe Banne.
