Mayor Femke Halsema of Amsterdam started her New Year’s speech last Monday, January 4 with #HoeGaatHetEchtMetJe. With great thanks to all involved communities and artists for their tips, advice, activism and expertise! How are you really doing? arose from in-depth conversations with residents, workers and stakeholders in 7 districts of Amsterdam, across political and city boundaries.
The campaign is freely accessible in public space and serves as a stage for the local community, a poetic note in the social, political and cultural debate during Covid-19. Tips, expertise, activist slogans and experiences of social organizations such as Hart voor de K Buurt South East, high school students in Amsterdam South and Centrum, elderly in nursing homes in the North, sex workers active at PIC Amsterdam Center, Gouden Mannen from (New) West, wmnx artists city-wide and passers-by at Krugerplein in East.
The combative, surprising and sometimes painful quotes have been transformed into a poster campaign with 75 different quotes and poems. In recent months, 700 A0/A1 posters have been released city-wide in collaboration with Centercom.
On display in the public space of Amsterdam until Wednesday!
Online as a featured room at the Amsterdam Museum; Corona in de stad x #hoegaathetechtmetje, with many thanks to @ afk020 @fondsvoornoord @cultuurfonds @gemeenteamsterdamwest
